Mustang Cross Country

Cross Country Parents and Athletes: Welcome to the 2009 IHM Cross Country Team. Our goals are to introduce young athletes to the sport of running and, once introduced, to develop a lifetime love of running.

We will start with a parent and athlete meeting on Sunday, July 26, at 6:00 PM, in the McIntyre Room in the IHM Parish Center. We will discuss registration, shoes, practices, meets, and the like. Come with any questions. The meeting should last no longer than one hour. If you cannot attend, please let me know.

Last year, we practiced at Keyser Park on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:30 to 8:00 PM and on Sunday evenings from 6:00 to 7:30 PM. Our team is permitted to begin practicing on August 3.

If an athlete is not yet registered, please do so through the IHM Athletics web site: www.ihmmustangs.org. If you have a sibling or friend who is interested in running with us this year, it is not too late to register. Athletes are not required to be students at IHM school.

Please schedule a physical for your child or be prepared to have your child?ÇÖs doctor sign your child?ÇÖs registration form. The form is available at www.akroncyo.org and www.ihmmustangs.org. The quickest way we have found to have the doctor sign the form is to send it to the doctor?ÇÖs office with a cover letter and stamped, return addressed envelope. This year, we are supposed to have the forms submitted and fees paid by the first practice.

Please let me know if you are interested in helping to coach this year. The first of two coaches meetings and clinics will be held on Monday, July 27, at 5:45 PM, at Children?ÇÖs Hospital Sports Medicine Center. More information is available in the Program Planner that is available on the CYO web site. CYO wants all coaches to attend this year.
